Lifetime Achievement Award to George H Sisk

The 2014 Irish Building & Design Awards were held recently in the Four Seasons hotel in Dublin. The event, now in its fourth year was attended by almost 300 of the country’s top architects, designers, engineers, building contractors and manufacturers. Hosted by CMG Events, the awards ceremony was another huge success, and applications were up on the previous year’s. The award applications were judged by senior management from the major associations and organisations including Engineers Ireland, RIBA, SEAI, Enterprise Ireland, ICPMA (International Contractors and Project Managers Association) ICE, IHBA, DIT as well as independent operators and industry experts. The event was sponsored by Kingspan Insulated Panels, Kilsaran International, ESS Safeforce, KCC Architectural and Enterprise Ireland.

With 17 categories including House builder of the Year, Contractor of the Year, Engineering Practice of the Year and numerous prestigious project awards, the evening was rounded off by an Irish Building & Design Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to George Sisk, who has recently retired from the family business after more than 50 years’ service. Having just recently returned from meeting the Queen of England, George Sisk graciously accepted the award and Liam Nagle, spoke briefly about George’s contribution to the business, how he navigated several recessions and engineering growth and business development.
