Friday 11th March 2022:   Good luck to Sisk project manager Jim Batty, who is one of three finalists for the 2022 James Rennie Medal.

This prestigious award from the Institution of Civil Engineers is given to the best Chartered Professional Review candidate and will be presented in front of a large audience and judging panel at ICE’s London headquarters on Monday 14th March.

Jim has been selected as a finalist out of over 1,300 candidates who became Chartered in 2021, and will compete for the award by discussing his experiences as a Project Manager on a bridge demolition and replacement scheme in Looe for Network Rail.

This project presented a number of logistical challenges, including positioning a 500t mobile crane on an environmentally sensitive salt marsh. Working alongside the Sisk temporary works designers in Ireland, Jim and the team developed an innovative solution using timber mats which distributed the pressure and protected the marsh from damage.

Jim said: “I feel privileged to have been nominated for such a prestigious award, which came as quite a shock, particularly as it is not something I entered into. I am grateful to all my colleagues who have helped and supported me in my journey in getting here, and hope I am able to do the same for others in turn.”

To watch the awards live on Monday at 18.30, pre-register here: https://www.ice.org.uk/events/...

Good luck Jim from all at Sisk!
