Monday 27th September 2021: John Sisk & Son recently won the ‘International Project of the Year’ award for its Bio Cork 2 project at the prestigious UK Construction News Awards at an event in London.

Following a rigorous judging process Sisk won the award in recognition of putting people at the heart of the project, from the client to the supply chain and the local community. Technology was also at the heart of ensuring project challenges were met and the exacting requirements of the industry were delivered.

Dave Cotter and Mike Nash from Sisk were presented winners of the 2021 Construction News Awards in front of an industry audience on Wednesday 15th September at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London.

The Janssen Sciences Ireland expansion to their existing facility in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork and large-scale fed batch technology is the first of its kind in Ireland and for Johnson & Johnson globally. The expansion involved the construction of new manufacturing buildings with a total floor space of almost 20,000m2. It also included expansion of the existing warehouse, laboratory administration buildings, support infrastructure and utilities.

Dave Cotter, Project Director, John Sisk & Son said: “We are delighted to be recognised as winners of the CN Awards ‘International Project of the Year’ for Bio Cork 2. The finished product is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the entire Sisk team and our supply chain partners. We would like to thank our Client, Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen Sciences Ireland for their collaborative approach and putting their faith in Sisk to deliver this exceptional Life Sciences Project.”

Lem Bingley, editor of Construction News said: “After the trials of the past year it was great to be able to celebrate the achievements of so many organisations from right across the construction industry. Despite the challenges thrown up by the pandemic, construction firms have continued to deliver outstanding results for their clients, and while doing so they have developed innovative new solutions, brought forward talented people, collaborated to deliver social value, and squared up to the challenges of climate change.”
