We operate across key sectors as an Irish family owned business, with offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Sligo, Waterford and Portlaoise.
In 1984 we opened our first office in the UK. We have offices in St Albans, Birmingham, Warrington and Bristol serving these markets directly.
Sisk also has a number of key projects throughout Europe for major pharmaceutical, retail and technology clients. Current locations for Sisk projects include, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark.
Recent examples of us delivering exceptional work include Luas Cross City, Dublin, the major redevelopment and restoration of London’s iconic Royal Academy of Arts, The Curragh Racecourse redevelopment, our work with Quintain in the redevelopment at Wembley Park in London, the construction of the new International Convention Centre at Celtic Manor in Wales, a major city centre redevelopment project in Manchester at Circle Square, Capital Dock, Dublin as well as a number of significant civil engineering projects across the UK including, the A19 in the North East.
The sustainable development approach taken by Sisk is to maximise sustainable construction and minimise the environmental effect of a project on society. This approach is rooted in the recognition that active engagement in social progress, environmental protection, and economic balance is necessary for long term development.
We are investing significantly in energy efficiency to improve the way we do business. Electric Vehicles are one of a number of initiatives we are rolling out as part of that commitment. Our ambition is to make energy efficiency part of the business culture in Sisk and across the industry.
It is our belief that implementing effective energy management will filter through to our subcontractors and supply chain, transforming the construction industry.
Sisk has estimated that the Electric Vehicle car move will reduce its overall company emissions by 560 tonnes. Sisk’s total corporate emissions come to 20,240 tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
Sisk has recognised that the carbon emissions of the construction process are significant and is embarking on a process to reduce this. Other projects we are working on include energy efficient site accommodation, utilising big data through plant telematics to effectively measure and reduce diesel consumption, and trials of hybrid power generators. In addition to this, Sisk has mandated that all timber used on our sites is procured from certified sustainable sources.
Our company sustainability policy reflects this approach and is communicated, implemented and reviewed as part of the John Sisk & Son ISO 18001:2007 safety, 14001:2004 environmental, and 9001:2008 quality certified Management System.
We promote safety, welfare, training, non-discrimination and charity to support confidence and moral across a healthy diverse community. Sisk is acutely aware of the impacts of construction projects on the local environment.
We engage with all stakeholders including the local community, clients, end-user groups, regulatory and professional bodies at an early stage as part of project design and throughout construction.
Our contribution to social progress ranges from our inclusive recruitment and career development opportunities, safety system, training and recruitment of apprentices, donations of time and finance to charitable causes, providing training to local schools, providing local employment & trade and supporting local community organisations.
Innovation is at the heart of what we do as a business every day. Sisk has been on the Lean journey since the late 1990s but undertook a step change in approach in 2016, recognising how core Lean principles matched the company’s focus on delivering value for customers and respecting and creating an efficient, safe and rewarding environment for all those who work with them.
In 2016, we undertook an extensive consultation process with over 1,000 staff – 80% of our directly employed workforce. This consultation was undertaken in the form of consultative workshops, the aim being to identify areas either of frustration or of potential improvement – either in processes or outcomes.
Hundreds of ideas were distilled into 42 work streams, prioritising 16 areas for immediate action. A “Lean Team” was established, charged with identifying and reducing waste and inefficiencies by mapping and analysing business processes.

This sets the highest standards all the time and helps Sisk employees' become role models for those who look to us for leadership, support and direction. We must consistently challenge unsafe behaviour and all play our part in making sure our people and those with whom we work with go home safely every day.

Sicon Limited is the holding company for Sisk’s construction and construction related activities in Ireland, the United Kingdom and a number of international markets. Its latest financial results for the year ended 31 December 2018 show a strong balance sheet with no debt and a business that has the financial capability to deliver excellence.
