Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process involves several different stages designed to help you highlight your academic achievements, personality, skills and passion to work at John Sisk. At each stage we will contact you, if successful, inviting you to complete the next step.

Application form:

This is the first stage of the recruitment process and it is vitally important that it is completed thoroughly. Relevant information must be filled in correctly and accurately to provide you with the best opportunity of being successful. Incorrectly completing a form may hinder your progress due to lack of clarity or missing information. We are open for online applicationstypically from late September to early November each year (check the website for precise dates in the future).

On-line assessments:

If successful in the application process, you will be invited to complete a series of on-line assessments aimed at assessing your ability across a number of areas. Instructions on how to complete these assessments will be contained within the invitation. There is also an opportunity to complete practise assessments which enable you to familiarise yourself with the process and may have a positive impact on your results.

Assessment centres:

The final stage consist of an assessment day typically held between December and January. The day will consist of a number of exercises including both individual and group tasks. You will be assessed in various ways and be challenged to use different parts of your skill set in time pressured situations.

Although the day is designed to be challenging, the atmosphere is welcoming and you will have the opportunity to meet and speak to many senior members of staff from across the business. Presenting yourself throughout the day is important as is it provides assessors the opportunity to get to know you more and understand what your aspirations and ambitions are. Being nervous is a normal reaction, but it is important to remain calm and engage with each task in order to make the best impression possible.

All applicants, successful or not, will receive feed back on their performance in the weeks following the assessment centre. Although not everyone will receive the news they want, this is a great opportunity to understand what areas you could improve on to increase your chances of success in the future.

Offer:

Successful candidates will receive an offer following the completion of all assessment centre dates. This will typically be at the end of January. You will be sent a contract and have the opportunity to read over the terms before making your decision.

Welcome events:

Each year in April/May we hold two welcome events, one in Ireland and one in the UK. These events are designed to provide you with an introduction to Sisk, an opportunity to meet your peers (who will pass through the programme with you) and both current Excelerate Graduates and Mentors. You will also be able to experience one of our live projects via a site tour.
