Scotch Hall is a landmark mixed-use development in Drogheda. The 78,000 m2 structure comprises 18,000 m2 of retail space including 65 shops, the 108-bedroom four star 'd Hotel', 3,000 m2 of office space, 80 apartments and a multi-storey car park for 700 cars.
The development of the triangular-shaped site presented a number of challenges; it was bounded on the north side by the River Boyne, on the south side by the Marsh Road, and on the east side by a busy commercial area incorporating several listed 19th century buildings as well as a medieval town wall, a medieval merchant's house and various other historically important underground structures.
Significant environmental management aspects of the project included the removal of hazardous material such as asbestos and contaminated soils. Significant civil engineering aspects of the project included the construction of pedestrian and vehicular bridges.
Handover was in November 2005 following a 22 month construction phase. Sisk provided 35 management personnel with a total workforce of almost 900; during the fit-out phase Sisk managed the workforce of 400.
