North Greenwich Interchange
Client : London Underground Ltd
Value : £15.5m (€17.8m)
This uniquely designed transport interchange is located at the gateway to the O2 Arena.
The interchange was designed to improve infrastructure for the North Greenwich peninsula and incorporates a bus station and a 1000 space car park above the North Greenwich Jubilee Line Station. This area was originally a contaminated gas works site which has been transformed by this spectacular project.
The roof of the Foster & Partners designed interchange covers a 10,000m2 area and is in the shape of a bird in flight with a wingspan of 200 metres. John Sisk & Son facilitated successful delivery of the complex design and fine tolerances required by pre-erecting sections of the building off site.
