Manchester Airport Ground Transport Interchange
Client : Manchester Airport plc
Value : £15m (€17.2m)
This £15m project involved the design and build fit-out of the new Ground Transport Interchange and a six storey office block at Manchester Airport.
Construction works included the full fit-out of the Main Hub, Coach Concourse and Skylink public areas, facilities management suites, and retail units with feature ceilings, terrazzo floor finishes, signature lighting, passenger signage and information display systems. Seven lifts and two escalators were also included in the overall scheme to provide enhanced comfort and disabled access to the passenger circulation and waiting areas.
In addition to these works Sisk also refurbished the existing train station, including new facilities management offices, switch rooms and multi-modal ticket facility, as well as work to the T2 Skylink Passenger Travelator system linking the Interchange to other parts of the airport.
7,430 m2 of new office space was constructed over the top of the Coach Concourse, which was fitted out to a high standard and included all mechanical and electrical works.
The project involved considerable liaison with all airport authorities to ensure the new facilities were fully integrated with the current passenger infrastructure and minimal disruption occurred during the programme. Works were phased to allow early handover for tenants.
