Value : £2.7m (€3m)
Kettering Borough Council awarded John Sisk & Son this prestigious town centre redevelopment contract as the centrepiece of their new regeneration scheme.
The full footprint site is bordered by main thoroughfares, public space and a Parish Church. The scheme involved basement car park construction, cafe and restaurant shells to ground and mezzanine floors and ten, two and three bed apartments to the first floor and within the roof voids.
Traditional construction materials were utilised with timber sash windows, precast stone and brick detailing, slate roofs and cast iron rainwater goods being combined with modern build methods to ensure comfortable and cost effective homes and retail units. The local natural stone, Great Tew Ironstone, was used for the front walls to integrate with the existing buildings.
Works were preceded by an archaeological dig with local school children visiting to promote community involvement with the development.
