John Sisk & Son’s dedicated pharmaceutical construction division delivered this major pharmaceutical project which comprised the construction, commissioning and hand over of the facility.
The Sisk team had a full appreciation of how the construction process needed to integrate seamlessly in the broader project delivery schedule. Sisk Pharma has full knowledge of the documentation and quality requirements of the sector and managed the front end of a fully leveraged validation effort in conjunction with Centocor.
This unique full delivery service also comes with cost certainty as Sisk agreed to a GMA (Guaranteed Maximum Amount) as part of the Management Contract. This project was delivered ahead of both schedule and cost targets. The project also achieved over 1 million hours worked accident-free.
The facility is arranged around a connecting spine link corridor that unites the following four buildings:
• Manufacturing 10,322 m2
• Laboratory /Administration 7,306 m2
• CUB (central utility building) 3,118 m2
• Warehouse 2,893 m2 into one contiguous operation.
The production centre contains three 1,000 litre Perfusion Bioreactors with Downstream Purification (Pre -Viral & Post Viral). The finished product is Pre-Formulated Bulk and stored at minus 40˚C.
The facility design allows for future expansion to each building as well as the ability to add stand-alone structures along the connecting spine. The four main buildings are located in the southeast part of the site and comprise a total floor space of 24,400 m2 approx. A site WWT and biomass plant is included.
