John Sisk & Son was appointed initially to deliver Phase 1 of the redevelopment of the former HP Sauce site at Aston Cross, Birmingham – an instantly recognisable landmark on one the main routes into the country’s second city.
East End Foods purchased this 6 acre site on which to develop their new Headquarters, a 125,000ft² cash and carry warehouse and a 14 storey 200-room hotel and conference centre.
Sisk worked with their experienced supply chain to deliver a full package of works.  This involved a large cut and fill earthworks package to accommodate the site gradient followed by piled foundations and retaining walls. A steel frame structure was clad with composite cladding panels. The offices and warehouse were fully fitted out with racking and sprinklers under the contract.
Externally, car parking and hardstanding areas were provided to the perimeter.
Detailed design work commenced on Phase II following completion of Phase I in September 2011.
