IBM Data Suite 2
Client : IBM Technology
Value : £6.7m (€8m)
Data Suite 2 in IBM is a 500m² data hall designed to support an IT load of 775KW. Works commenced in November 2010 and completed on target in April 2011. It was constructed adjacent to the existing Data Suite 1 which Sisk constructed in 2008.
The Data Suite 2 design is identical to that of Data Suite 1 with provision in place to expand the area in the future to reach the same capacity as Data Suite 1.
The onsite works included the strip out and relocation of existing services together with removal of existing ceiling and raised floor tiles. A fully enclosed 2 hour fire rated box was constructed within the space to house the data hall. To the rear of the unit we constructed 1hr fire rated MV/LV Switch Rooms and UPS/Battery Rooms.
An external generator compound to house 2No.1500KVA generatorswas also built as well as the installation of a new heat exchanger and pump house to the rear of the facility. As part of the project some existing chillers were removed and replaced with new chillers.
Sisk were responsible for the full construction, mechanical, electrical and sprinkler installation as well as the procurement, installation and commissioning of all the specialist equipment.
