Marriott County Hall, London
Client : Whitbread
Value : £16m (€18.4m)
The 200 Bedroom four star Marriott Hotel was completed by the John Sisk & Son team on a Design & Build basis as part of Whitbread's conversion of the former Greater London Council Headquarters.
Public areas, Reception, Restaurants and Conference facilities on the ground floor are within the former quarters of the GLC Chairman and Officers.
Grade II listed oak floors and wall panels and fibrous plaster vaulted ceilings have all been preserved and modified to integrate them with 21st Century services and air conditioning. Of particular note is the rejuvenation of the Noes Lobby that is now an impressive Reception Lounge.
Existing windows and chimney stacks governed the bedroom layout, making each room unique. Bedrooms are larger than the standard Marriott room each with a spectacular view of the Houses of Parliament and the River Thames.
