Whitfield Clinic Waterford
Client : Eurocare International Ltd
Value : £40.2m (€45m)
Whitfield Private Hospital is located on the outskirts of Waterford City on the main Cork Road. It has a floor area of 12,700m2 and is located on a 5 acre site. The client decided during construction to add an additional floor over the complete floor plate of the hospital. This was constructed and completed for November 2006. During the construction of Whitfield Clinic, Sisk's involvement in the value engineering process led to major savings in time and cost for the Client.
The specialist fit outs in the clinical areas involved some of the most modern equipment available and were particularly onerous e.g. the linear accelerator bunkers are an insitu concrete structure with walls up to1.5m thick, which necessitated the use of GGBS concrete to prevent cracking. The elevations are a combination of stone and rendered facades.
The new build facility includes:
• 4 Operating Theatres
• 2 Radiotherapy Linear Accelerators in Bunkers
• 78 Inpatient/Day Beds (14 added post hand-over)
• Consultant Suites
• Dialysis Suite
Due to the phased handover of departments to suit clinical fit-out, the coordination and commissioning of M&E services was carefully planned and carried out by the Sisk team.
Subsequent works carried out by Sisk in a live hospital environment included a 2-phased fit out of a 14 bed ward, a Swiftcare 4 bed ward and 3 consultancy suites to a value of €2.2m.
