Blackrock Clinic Dublin
Value : £25m (€28m)
This challenging project involved the construction of three additional floors on top of the existing Blackrock Clinic Hospital Building whilst keeping the hospital operational 24 hours a day. The internal works comprised of a full fit-out incorporating bedrooms (all en-suite) operating theatres, day-care centre, nurse stations and administration areas.
Scope of works also included:
- Complicated interface works within the existing hospital building at the basement and ground floor levels along with the existing central atrium area.
- Extension of the existing Energy Centre Building, Restaurant and ICU Buildings.
- Site enabling works involving the diversion of existing services conducted in parallel to the main structural frame construction.
All works were carried out within the bounds of a live hospital building with procedures put in place during all stages of the works to prevent service disruption. The phasing requirements of working in a live hospital campus resulted in elaborate pedestrian and traffic management plans being developed and continuously updated throughout the project.
