John Sisk were awarded the Main Civils Work Contract for Pembroke Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Station in August 2009. The project required the construction of the substructure and reinforced concrete work for the five turbine halls together with the associated cooling water pipework and ancillary site wide services and structures.
The 54 week contract was awarded by EPC Contractor Alstom. The project is owned and commissioned by RWE power, who were investing approx. £1bn in the scheme. The plant is built on the site of the former oil-fired Pembroke Power Station, which ceased operation in 1997 and was subsequently demolished.
The Plant is one of the largest and most efficient of its kind in the UK, capable of supplying power to three million homes.
