On 2 June 2010, the Department of Education and Skills announced the signing of the contract for the provision of six new schools with Macquarie Partnerships for Ireland (MPFI). These six schools provide places for over 4,700 pupils and make up the second bundle of PPP schools projects to be delivered under the Department's Public Private Partnership (PPP) Programme.
Bantry Gaelscoil is part of this second bundle of PPP Schools. As part of the PPP team Sisk were involved in the project from concept stage and worked with the project team to develop the design and provide a fixed price lump sum at close of tender.
The new primary school accommodates a mixture of 186 Boys and Girls. This school shares the site with the new community school. The two storey primary school accommodates 8 classrooms, 3 specialist classrooms, library, staff/administration areas, store areas, toilets and ancillary areas. The development is designed to ensure best possible value in terms of education, organisation, operation, extended use for the community and sustainability.
The development along with the school consists of the provision 1 hard surface playing area, vehicular/pedestrian access, car park, cycling parking areas, bus and car park set down areas.The total gross floor area of the school is 1,503m².
