N9/N10 Phase 4 Knocktopher to Powerstown
Client : Kilkenny County Council
Value : £194.1m (€217m)
This N9/N10 Phase 4 scheme forms part of the overall N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme. Phase 4 Knocktopher to Powerstown consists of 40km of 2 lane motorway, 6.5km of single carriageway link road, 3 grade separated junctions and 83 structures along the scheme. This project which commenced in January 2008 had a 33 month duration and was opened 3 months ahead of schedule in September 2010.
Sisk RoadBridge (SRB) joint venture between John Sisk & Son and RoadBridge successfully delivered this complex project ahead of programme and to budget to our client Kilkenny County Council whilst ensuring the safety of our workforce and general public. The scheme is truncated by three railway structures and three large river structures in candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) areas. The management of these interwoven critical path structures and an understanding of their effect on earthworks and pavement operations was crucial in the delivery of the project.
