bet365 Data Centre and Headquarters, Stoke on Trent

Having completed our tender submission with our specialist supply chain contractor Rotary we were subsequently awarded the design and build works for this multi-phase scheme.
The contract works included piled foundations, steel frame with blockwork and cladding to walls, cladded roof and all mechanical and electrical works required to provide services for Bet365. External finishes such as drainage, utilities, hard and soft landscaping and entrance gates also formed part of our project scope.
With the need for greater storage capacity being paramount to bet365, up to 76 racks were installed in the Server and Comms room, sharing up to 600Kw of IT UPS (Critical Power). The total load under the first phase is up to 300Kw of IT load. This will increase to up to 600Kw of load when further UPS, chillers and generators are installed when necessary.
Due to the specialist nature of the data centre, opticom ducts were used, allowing large 100m colour coded cables to be fed independently into different servers. Further to this 200metre cables are running into the new headquarters work allowing their computer systems to works as efficiently as possible.
In order to ensure the building could be powered a 1m wide by 1m deep trough was formed around the building to effectively guide the power source form the back of the building to the front .
Highlighting our ability to create and sustain long term working relationships with existing clients, the Regions team subsequently secured a second contract with bet365, following on from the successful works delivered at the Facilities Building.
The new build works will see the delivery of a 13,000m² office and 915 space car park, housing in excess of 2500 employees, as bet365 further establish themselves as the largest private sector employer in the Stoke-on-Trent area. The nature of the site, which is based in the heart of the potteries, a cornerstone of manufacturing and industry last century, means extensive remediation and groundworks were carried out before construction works commenced.
Trespa Rain Screen modular cladding has been incorporated over the three storey structural steel frame building. The cladding has been selected to reflect daylight and create an aesthetically pleasing addition to the current landscape.
Located to the South East of the site is the Grade II* listed Roundhouse building. It was essential that all power and services to the Roundhouse remain live throughout the duration of the contract, therefore specialist consideration has been given to achieve this along with a specific method statement being formulated detailing how this historic monument will be protected through the construction works.
