Grand Canal Square Dublin

Client : Client Ramford Ltd

Value : €189m

Grand Canal Square is a stunning new commercial and cultural development located in the heart of Dublin’s Docklands. Designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Daniel Libeskind (designs for Ground Zero, New York; Jewish Museum, Berlin), Grand Canal Square comprised the construction of fourth generation office blocks complemented by a stunning new theatre and a superb public concourse. Sisk worked closely with the client and design team to meet the exacting standards of the overall scheme on this tight urban site.

As management contactors, Sisk were responsible for managing the BREEAM assessment of the entire project. Working in a collaborative manner with the design team and the subcontractors the North & South Blocks of the development received a BREEAM Excellent Rating.

The Grand Canal Theatre is the second major performance venue for the Dublin Docklands, following the re-development of The Point. A feature on the entrance to the theatre is the complex glazed façade with multiple shapes and plains. The roof is also a striking feature and is a Kalzip standing seam construction. The significant leading edge M & E installation and commissioning associated with the auditorium was managed successfully and partial handover was achieved as required to allow the operator access to the facility to complete the necessary works for opening night.

Also included in the project was the full fit out of 10,000m2 of office space in the South Block for solicitor firm Byrne Wallace. There are also large feature atria in each of the office blocks to increase the natural light available within the office space on each floor.
