Lea Navigation Bridges
Client : Olympic Delivery Authority
Value : Not disclosed
John Sisk & Son have been awarded the contract to Design and Construct the Lea Navigation Bridges, together with ancillary works on the western boundary of the Olympic Park.
The project comprises two cycleway/foot-bridges, approximately 450m apart, which span the Lea Navigation waterway either side of Hackney Wick railway station.
The completed bridges form part of the ‘Legacy Works’. The bridges need to be constructed prior to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to facilitate their swift opening into the Olympic Park thereafter.
H10 requires a clear square span of 26m while H14 will have a skewed clear span of 31m. A common design concept has been developed for both bridges, consisting of tapered steel box beams with a steel deck and a permeable resin bound finish.
H10 incorporates a lift and a storage area for a local rowing club.
